Products. Software.
Automation.
Derovest exists for two reasons: businesses need technology without wanting to run a technology department, and their people spend too much of the week on work software could do. We build our own products alongside that — which is what keeps the advice honest.
Why we exist
Two problems,
one company.
They need technology, not a technology department
Most businesses need a handful of things built well — an application, an integration, a process that stops being manual. Hiring a permanent engineering team to get those is out of proportion to the problem, and usually out of budget too.
Their people repeat the same work every week
Somewhere in almost every business there is a capable person spending a day a week copying information from one system to another. Nobody planned it. It just accumulated, and it is the easiest thing in the business to give to software.
Derovest works on both. Software development for companies that need things built. Business automation for companies drowning in repetitive manual work. Technology staffing for companies that need people. Cloud and cost optimisation for teams paying more than they should to keep things running. And SEO, because being found is a technology problem before it is a marketing one.
Product mindset
We build products too.
Mentivax and PORTVAX are Derovest's own technology, built and run by us — not work done for a client and handed over.
- We live with our own decisionsRather than handing them over and moving on to the next engagement.
- The two sides feed each otherWhat we learn running products makes the client work better, and the range of client problems keeps the products honest.
- We pay our own billsInfrastructure, support, the lot — which is why we know where the money leaks.
- Product-builder, not outsourcing vendorA supplier only ever bills for the building. We make the same trade-offs you do.
Where we are
Derovest is an early-stage company, and we would rather say that than invent a customer list. There are no fabricated testimonials on this site, no logo wall, and no invented headcount.
What we can point at is the work: two products running in the real world, and a way of working that puts the scope and the price in writing before anything starts. When there is client work we're allowed to show, it will appear here.
See what we buildHow we think
How we approach the work.
Practical technology
We build around the business problem in front of us, not around whatever is currently fashionable in engineering.
Lean development
We try to build the smallest thing that solves the problem properly, and we say clearly what we are leaving out.
Flexible talent
Contract professionals, hiring support, or both — sized to the requirement rather than to a minimum contract.
Automation first
Before building something new, we look at whether the repetitive work can simply stop being done by a person.
Product mindset
We build and own our own products, so we make the same trade-offs you do — not just the ones a supplier can bill for.
Say the unhelpful thing
If a project is not worth doing, or not worth doing yet, we say so. That is easier to do when we are not desperate for the work.
Who we help
Who we work with.
Particularly companies that cannot justify a large internal technology team, and should not have to.
Startups
You need something real in front of users, built by people who will tell you what not to build.
- MVP development
- Software engineering without a full team
- Cost-conscious, practical builds
- Technology talent as you grow
Non-technology businesses
You run on spreadsheets, email and manual steps. You don't want an IT department — you want the repetition gone.
- Business and workflow automation
- Internal software built around your process
- Reporting that doesn't need rebuilding
- Fewer repetitive administrative tasks
Software & technology companies
You already build things. You need more capacity, or people you can trust to assess technical talent.
- Additional developers on contract
- Technology professionals for a defined project
- Technical screening support when hiring
- Extra software development capacity
